# Categories

> Organize your marketplace with domain categories and blog post categories — assign domains, control catalog filters, and group related content.

The platform has two separate category systems that serve different purposes. They are independent and not interchangeable.

## Domain categories

Domain categories organize your inventory. Each category gets its own public page at `/categories/{slug}` that lists all domains in that category.

The Setup Wizard seeds 21 starter categories (Technology, Finance, Health, E-commerce, and so on). You can rename them, add new ones, or delete unused ones.

### How domains are categorized

Each domain has one **Primary Category** — this determines which category page the domain appears on. You can also assign up to two **Additional Categories** so the domain appears on those pages as well.

Category assignment can be done manually or via AI. The AI categorization prompt has access to the full list of your categories, so it picks from what you actually have.

### Category fields

| Field               | Purpose                                                                                        |
| ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Name**            | Category name. The slug is generated automatically from the name.                              |
| **Description**     | Rich text description shown at the top of the category page. AI-generated.                     |
| **Curator Insight** | Short editorial quote about this category. AI-generated.                                       |
| **SEO Text**        | HTML content shown below the domain grid on the category page. AI-generated.                   |
| **Theme Color**     | Hex color used to accent the category — header gradient, badges, and highlights. AI-generated. |

### AI content freshness

When you add, remove, or change the status of domains in a category, the platform automatically marks that category's AI content as outdated. A banner appears in the admin form reminding you to regenerate the description and curator insight to reflect the current inventory.

The **Regenerate All** and individual field regen buttons are available at the top of every category form.

## Post categories

Post categories are a separate, simpler taxonomy used only for blog posts. They have no public page — they serve as filter labels on the blog index page at `/blog`.

Post categories live at **Content → Post Categories** in the admin panel.

Post categories have no description, no theme color, and no AI generation. They are just organizational labels for your blog.
